Every now and then, when we get a chance, we like to challenge ourselves with a new technique for jewelry making that involves Chinese Knotting Cord (of course!)  This month, we were inspired by Brittany Ketchem's Bollywood Earings on Beadshop.com (http://beadshop.com/projects/youtube-videos/bollywood-earrings) and decided to try our hand at wire wrapping and knotting!

Having never worked with wire, it took a lot of tries, tons of youtube videos, advice from friends and a lot of wire :), but we finally managed to finish a project that we absolutely love!  We are calling it Summer Flight and hope you like it!

Our design originally started off as a pair of earrings but while we were trying (with some difficult) to figure out how to attach the findings, my son mentioned that they looked like butterfly wings and Summer Flight was born.  Our design is made from 16, 26 and 20 gauge silver wire with .4mm chinese knotting cord in poseidon.  The piece is finished off with 8mm teal glass pearls, 6/0 and 11/0 toho beads.  We attached a pin to the back and voila!

We hope this inspires you to make your own wire creations.. and or course.. don't forget the chinese knotting cord...
