A Tribute to OMA

Posted by Karen Presing on

This past week, my husband's mother, affectionately known as OMA, passed away.  At the age of 90 she had lived a long and fulfilling life and had been ready to say goodbye but for the rest of us it was hard to let go.  Having survived through a world war and lost many a loved one at an early age, OMA always knew how to cherish the simple things in the world... the love of a family, the sun on a beautiful day or the strength in a simple smile.  She taught us to enjoy each others company, to work hard but play...

Chinese Knotting Cord: Through the sizes...

Posted by Karen Presing on

It is hard to remember the time when Chinese knotting cord only came in two sizes.. It was not so long ago but we still remember the many times when the cord size was just slightly too big for the bead and we would spend hours trying to thread one bead by cutting the cord ends on an angle, adding nailpolish, melting the cord and even reaming the bead, all in an attempt to get that darn bead onto the cord.   After many failed attempts and loads of unused beads, we would often times just give up on the project all...

The sliding clasp can be made with almost any type of cord but we like using Chinese knotting cord the best.  And no wonder... It holds...

Having never worked with wire, it took a lot of tries, tons of youtube videos, advice from friends and a lot of wire :), but we finally managed to finish a project that we absolutely love!  We are calling it Summer Flight and hope you like it!  Our...

Cozumel Charm: A Vacation Charm Bracelet

Posted by Karen Presing on

Charm Bracelets have always held a special place in my heart. Every bracelet and charm I own always brings to mind a special place, a wonderful thought or happy memory of my life. This year, as our summer vacation took us to the beautiful island of Cozumel, Mexico, I was inspired to design a vacation charm bracelet. With charms I collected myself: a piece of Chichen Itiza (wire wrapped into a charm), a little sea shell from my favorite beach (wire wrapped into a charm), a piece of coral I found while scuba diving (wire wrapped into a charm) and...
